Henri Selmer Flute

HENRI SELMER SILVER FLUTE

When Henri Selmer decided to penetrate the flute market,
he took over the Barbier fluteworkshop in Paris.
As was common a lot of flutebuilders copied more or less the
Louis Lot flutes. For example Haynes did this for the
americain market. This silver example is a french
built instrument that can be dated 1920 - 1930.

By clicking on the photo you can enlarge it for
examining the engraving, lipopening and crown.

In the main section of this instrument the double left
thumb axe system can be clearly seen.
This feature is also applied on some flutes of
Noblet, another french manufacturer.
A typical french flute soundwise but it hasn't
got the qualities of a genuine Louis Lot.

Nice eye-candy!
I just bought a silver Selmer plateau model flute, serial #181. Its keys are in-line, has a C# roller key, a double axle for the Briccialdi B/Bb. The headjoint has a "flange" that is apparently common on French-made flutes.

If you or anyone of your viewers has any idea how I might trace this flute's origin, I'd be grateful.

Hi! I have two clarinets by A. Robert, and I absolutely love them. I've been trying to learn more about him, but I can't seem to find much. I would really appreciate any info you might have in another comment here.

Thanks! :)

Hello,

A fair price for an all silver Claude Rive would be € 2000,- as Alexandre Robert built this flute. Though nothing bad can be said about Alexandre Robert and his work (he was awarded with several prices) his instruments are of lesser interest to collectors.
